In 2019, Xocolatl Small Batch Chocolate, a chocolate micro-factory in Atlanta, sold bars and handed out samples. Their chocolate is sustainably and ethically grown, harvested, fermented and sun-dried on small farms throughout the Americas and East Africa.
Through the Emory Sustainable Food Fair, we'd like our attendees to interact with Georgia's farmers and small business owners, to expand our knowledge about healthy eating and sustainable production, and to establish a relationship with the people who grow our food. These are all essential components of a healthy local food system.
Our goal is to deepen the Emory community's knowledge and awareness of sustainable and local foods. We'd like to showcase the farmers, stores, restaurants, and organizations building the movement.
Every year more than 50 farmers, vendors, and organizations (in addition to Emory students and staff) come together to celebrate sustainability. In the past years this event has exceeded 2500 attendees! We'd like to work with you personally to emphasize the educational component of sustainable food to our community and to highlight your impact. As a vendor, you are free to give food samples, host cooking/prep demos, give promotional materials regarding your organization, or to educate the community on a special topic related to sustainability.
If you are a farm, small business, food vendor, or organization interested in a table at this year's sustainable food fair, please contact emorysustainablefoodfair@gmail.com and please let us know why you're interested and how your group promotes sustainability. We'd love to provide you with a table and space.
